The range
The eastern escarpment is a different approach from the black soil west of town
Stock held for Toowoomba and the Downs is allocated for this side of the range, and the delivery is quoted to the driveway. Once the truck is on the local run, most suburbs in 4350 are the same morning.
- Where it is loaded
- Downs allocation, then the local run once the truck is up
- What sets the day
- What is set aside, and the next run that can take the address
- Usual truck
- Tilt bed for a 10ft or 20ft; side loader or crane for a 40ft, via the bypass if it is long

Range
Withcott one side, Highfields the other
Highfields, Meringandan, Cabarlah, Gowrie Junction and Hampton share 4352 with Withcott, the township before the old road drops off the escarpment. A box on the eastern side and a box west of the city do not share an approach. The bypass loops north of the built-up streets and meets the highway near Charlton.

Clay
Black soil does not shed a coastal shower
After rain, Downs black soil turns slick. A gravel drive at Highfields or Westbrook that was fine on Saturday can be a refusal on Monday, and a pipe culvert that has never carried this weight is part of the same risk. Oakey, 4401, and Kingsthorpe, 4400, are the usual in-between stops if a second drop is already on the truck.

Uses
A spray tank that will not fit once both cars are in
Acreage at Highfields, Meringandan and Westbrook looks like a longer house block until you see the contents: a spray tank, a mower, fencing gear. Town streets are renovations and lockups. The shell has to be chosen before the truck has left, because swapping it once it is on a Rangeville drive is another morning. Cool nights on the range also bead a steel ceiling.

Seeing it
Before the bypass, not after
Ask for pictures of the floor and the doors on the unit with your name on it, before it is on the truck. A Downs delivery is the wrong time to negotiate a soft board. Say whether the address is on the escarpment side or out on the black soil.
The bypass, black soil and cool nights
Does a box on the eastern escarpment use the same approach as one west of town?
No. The old range road is a poor path for a long shell. West of the city, and anything coming in long, uses the bypass and comes back from Charlton. Say which side you are on.
After rain, will black soil around Toowoomba still take a loaded truck?
Often not, until it crusts. Gravel drives and light culverts at Highfields and Westbrook are the usual failure. Tell us if the surface slicks. We would rather move the morning than cut the drive up.
What actually sets the day a container reaches a Toowoomba address?
Which unit is free, which run can take the driveway, and whether the range or the bypass is the sensible path. The suburb in 4350 is rarely the hard part. The side of the escarpment is.

Escarpment side, or black soil to the west?
Rangeville, Highfields or Oakey. Say if the shell is a 40ft. It probably wants the bypass.
