Stock held for Warwick and the Southern Downs goes out on the local run, quoted to the paddock rather than the town. Allora and the Condamine flats are black soil that greases after rain. Yangan, Killarney and the rise to Stanthorpe turn stonier, orchard and vineyard blocks with fruit bins and netting as often as cattle plant.

A town street off the main drag and a gate twenty minutes toward the granite are both Warwick until you say otherwise. Allora, 4362, and Clifton, 4361, sit north on the New England, a sealed run with long approaches, still black soil. Yangan is 4371 and Killarney 4373, more hills than open flat.
Rain
Black soil will not give a tyre anything to bite
After rain the flats grease. A delivery that looked easy from the highway becomes a refusal at the gate. We wait for a crust rather than cut the paddock. A tight gate or a grid nobody trusts wastes the same day, wet or dry.
Orchards
Bins, netting, irrigation, then cattle plant
On the rise to Stanthorpe the shell is as likely to hold fruit bins and irrigation gear as fencing wire. The ground is stonier and kinder after rain, and the roads are not as wide as the black-soil lanes. Say if the approach is a vineyard row or a cattle ramp. They ask for different lengths.

What a Southern Downs night does inside a closed box
Clear winter nights drop hard. Moisture beads on the steel and drips by morning onto whatever is on the floor. Vent the shell and pallet seed, cartons and anything in a paper bag. It is the climate, not a roof that failed in January.

What does black soil on the Condamine flats do after rain?
It greases, and a tyre has nothing to bite. We wait for a crust. Tell us if the gate paddock has failed before. The highway can be dry while your entrance is not. A grid you do not trust is a separate reason to stop.
Is the granite toward Stanthorpe a different drop from the black flats?
Yes. It drains and firms sooner, and the roads are tighter. Fruit bins and netting replace cattle plant as the usual contents. Name Stanthorpe or Applethorpe if that is the gate. A Warwick pin hides the difference.
What does a Southern Downs frost do inside a closed box?
It wets the floor from the ceiling, by condensation. Pallet the seed and vent the shell. If you see daylight through the roof, that is a hole and a different unit. Frost alone leaves the roof dark.
