A Flagstone court is not four hundred metres of gravel
Stock held for Jimboomba is matched to the road before the truck is booked, and the price is for that drive. If you only offer 4280, the picture in the cab can be a Flagstone court when you meant a gravel lane toward Veresdale. The cattle grid is the question people leave until the truck is looking at it.

Lanes
Grids with no plate on them
Jimboomba proper, Cedar Grove and the lanes toward Veresdale are long drives, grids and gates. Flagstone, filling in on the northern side, shares 4280 and behaves like an estate. New Beith and Greenbank are 4124. A grid with no rating is not something we drive a loaded rigid over on a guess.
Wet
The last bend goes first
Crushed rock or decomposed granite with a crown and table drains is a comfortable run while it is dry. After a wet week the failure is usually the lowest bend or the soft edge, not the whole lane. Clay here drinks a wet summer and shrinks hard by the end of the dry, and it does not do that evenly under a shell.
Sheds
Feed, tack and a slasher change the length
Most of what goes into a Jimboomba container is the farm shed's overflow, or the shed that was never built. A slasher and a round bale want length a tack locker does not. Say what has to go through the doors, because a 20ft that will not take the slasher is the wrong saving.
Looking
See the floor before it is on the lane
Ask for pictures of the shell chosen for your block: floor, door seals, and any patch in the ply. A long gravel drive is a bad moment to discover a soft board. If the photos show a dent you would hate once the box is full of gear, say so while it can still be swapped.
Grids, wet bends and length
What should I know about a private cattle grid?
Whether it has a rating plate, how wide it is, and whether a heavy truck has crossed it. No plate means we do not drive over it. A side gate or a lift from the bitumen is the alternative.
After a wet week, which part of a gravel drive goes first?
Usually the lowest bend and the soft shoulders, not the crowned middle. Tell us if that bend has failed before. Dry, compacted gravel with drains is a normal run. Fresh clay showing in the wheel tracks is not.
Feed, tack and a slasher: how does that change the length?
The slasher decides it. If it will not pass the door of a 20ft, you want the longer shell, and the gate has to agree. Tack and bagged feed fit almost anything. Measure the machine, not the paddock.
